People in Amarillo are asking if CBD can help with pain and inflammation?

Is CBD legal in Texas?

CBD, which is short for “cannabidiol,” is a common chemical compound found in a class called “cannabinoids” that naturally occur in cannabis plants.  Although discovered almost 80 years ago, CBD is just now booming in popularity as a natural, safe and holistic health aid – including relief for pain and inflammation!

How does CBD relieve pain and inflammation?

Our bodies contain two types of cannabinoid receptors:  CB1 and CB2.  CB1 receptors are found mostly in the brain. The CB2 receptors, however, are located throughout the body and play a significant role in our immune system by regulating pain and inflammation.  Nearly every type of human disease, including pain and inflammation, involves some sort of change in CB2 function.

Research studies show that CBD can bind to some CB2 receptors. For example, glycine receptors, which are located in the central nervous system, play a major role in the perception of pain.  The studies show that CBD greatly increases strength of these receptors, subsequently helping to reduce neuropathic pain. CBD is also able to reduce inflammation in the body by limiting re-uptake of the neurotransmitter called adenosine, thereby playing a significant role in reducing inflammation throughout the body.

As a result, CBD offers our bodies a natural and non-addictive form of pain relief — as well as a strong anti-inflammatory with little to no harmful side effects.

What form of CBD should I use to relieve pain and inflammation?

There are multiple ways and forms to take CBD.  A lot of it depends on your specific needs and personal preferences.  For example, if you’re suffering from joint or muscle pain, using a topical cream may be the most effective form. But you can also take it in capsule form, vape, smokables, transdermal patches, edibles, and drops.

Before beginning to use CBD for any medical reason, including pain and inflammation, it’s always important to first speak to your doctor.  Although CBD has few side effects, it’s important to know about any possible interactions with prescriptions you’re already on.

Will CBD make me high?

  1. Because CBD has such a miniscule amount of THC (0.3% or less), it will not get you high. In fact, CBD is considered naturally non-intoxicating and actually counteracts the high effects of THC, which is the psychoactive element in marijuana. If you’re looking for a natural, safe and proven health aid that does not get you high, CBD is widely considered the premier option.
